5 Favorites under $50 – Emily’s Picks

Posted on: November 29th, 2010 by Lisa

5favorites-emily (1. Santa Luci ornament set $49, 2. En Gry & Sif flower purse $29, 3. “Frill Seeker” tank top $40, 4. Votivo “Black Ginger” candle $26, 5. Madeira candle holders $8.99 for small & $12.99 for large)

This holiday season Emily is feeling nostalgic for afternoon hikes in the woods and nights spent cozied up by a fire. However, since we still are having very few days under 60 degrees and cobblestone street instead of unpaved trails, she’s had to improvise a little…Achieve a rustic Christmas experience with her picks that are sure to warm your home and heart. Start off with her snow substitution – a set of 27 laser-cut wooden geometric snowflakes that are the perfect mixture of intricacy and simplicity. For your holiday shopping, tote along this petite felt purse. It’s just the right size for some cash, credit card, cell phone, and chapstick and sure to not slow you down during your hectic retail excursions. After an afternoon of shopping (just as rigorous as a brisk hike, right?), slip this top on under well-worn cardi and snuggle up with a good book. And, if you’re too busy to do any holiday baking, light a festive smelling candle such as Votivo’s Black Ginger – it will make every think you’re practicing for your New Year’s Resolution: become world-reknown pastry chef. It’s also available in other delectable scents such as Gingersnap and Moroccan Fig. Lastly, bring some warmth to your holiday table with these Old World candlesticks. Add them in with seasonal ivy and berries for a traditional table setting that’s sure to put your guests in a jolly spirit.

5 Favorites under $50 – Meg’s Pick

Posted on: November 22nd, 2010 by Lisa

5favorites-meg (1. YA tunic dress $42, 2. little girl’s TuTu $46, 3. Votivo “Paper Narcissus” candle $15, 4. Lollia “Calm” bubble bath $42, 5. Pre de Provence soap $5)

Meg’s magenta colored jersey tunic dress has an empire waist which makes this piece versatile for the holidays – wear it with leggings and heels to a party or with jeans and boots for an afternoon of Christmas shopping. The little TuTu embellished with fabric flowers is available in almost any color and a perfect gift for any little girl to play dress up. Scents such as this “Paper Narcissus” candle will fill your home with holiday cheer and make a great hostess or teacher present. Lastly, after a long day of hunting for the perfect gift, who doesn’t need a little pampering! Meg and her husband have made the switch to Pre de Provence french soaps for their home – it’s all they use! Soaps come in feminine and masculine scents such as Rose Petal, White Gardenia, Agrumes, and Mint Leaf. Also, don’t forget the bubble bath – Lollia’s “Calm” is a fusion of hyacinth and honey that’s a great way to unwind after a long day at work or with the kiddos!

Great Expectations – Odd Molly

Posted on: November 12th, 2010 by Lisa

These pictures speak a thousand words…But we won’t bore you with repeating them here. Just have a look for yourself.

oddmolly

We are so excited for these beautiful pieces by Odd Molly to come in. The dress and tunic are 100% silk and sure to be show-stoppers where ever they are worn. And, that coat! For a coat like that, I would move somewhere cold just to snuggle up with it everyday to brave the elements.

This is boho-chic incarnate – luscious fabrics, meticulous embroidery, and all in pieces that will last you a lifetime. We love everything this designer stands for, especially this cute little anecdote about “Molly.” Read for yourself, and if that sounds like you, be sure to stop in soon to experience these pieces in person.

say it with a scarf

Like you, we’re wishing that fall would just stay here for more than a day. That doesn’t mean though that we can’t start looking for our favorites and go-to’s for the season.

In the sea of neutrals and grays we’ve found some pops of color in the form of bold accessories to brighten up your outfits. The Echo scarves shown are priced at $38 (right) and $48 (left) – not bad for season staple. Not to mention, they are soft and comfy too!

We like to mix and match, so pair a bolder pattern with a more conservative outfit like a classic navy plaid strapless dress and a cropped leather jacket ( a steal at only $182!!). Likewise, wear  a classic outdoorsy plaid scarf with an oversized chunky knit sweater and funky dress to top off a look that would be as great for a brisk walk in the woods as for a casual lunch with friends.

As always, stop in to explore our revolving selection of handbags and jewelry!

longing for fall

Posted on: September 24th, 2010 by Lisa

It’s good to be back home but we are sure looking forward to some cooler weather! Even NYC was hot the past few days…

While we didn’t get any respite from the heat, we did find some fantastic spring clothes at the buying show. And, we are also happy to say, that color will be back! Crazy to think that we haven’t even gotten to the holidays and we’re already dreaming about the yummy kelly green sundresses and flirty pink tops we have on order…

But, we did fortunately return to find a few pops of fall reds and browns along side feminine details in some newly arrived items. And, we’d love to share a few of them with you below…

Camel coats are a must have for fall – and this rosette decorated wool coat from Ryu is a great find. Pair it with a classic A-line cut heather grey dress from Burlapp and you’re set for the perfect day to night autumnal outfit.

We clearly love Ryu because the next outfit – silver faux leather detailed jacket and beaded cream chiffon dress – is made of two amazing pieces by these fabulous designers out of California. Both pieces are modern yet easy to wear and can surely get some wear into the holiday season.

Lastly, we are seriously digging the pop of color in this Lia Molly sweater (she used to be the sweater designer for Anthropologie) and Burlapp tiered skirt. And, look closely, the sweater front pocket is styled with a kiss-lock closure reminiscent of an old-fashioned change purse – love at first sight.
